Wash and fold in Greenville: is it worth it?

6 min readUpdated October 28, 2026
The short answer
In short

Wash and fold at FabriCare is everyday laundry sorted by color, fabric weight, and soil, then washed, dried, folded, and bagged, with a two-to-three-business-day turnaround. It rides the same free twice-weekly routes as dry cleaning, through Greenville, Greer, Simpsonville, Mauldin, Five Forks, and Taylors. The care label prices it by the pound and the price is quoted before work starts.

What wash, dry, and fold includes

Wash and fold is water and detergent for clothes you would already put in a home machine. The wash and fold page lists everyday clothing, towels and washcloths, sheets and pillowcases, children's clothing, athletic wear, pajamas and loungewear, and uniforms. The journal's comparison of the two services adds t-shirts, casual cottons, jeans, activewear, and underwear to that everyday list. If you would wash it at home without a second thought, it belongs here.

What you get that a home load often skips is the sort. Every bag is separated by color, fabric weight, and soil level before it is washed. Whites stay away from colors. Heavy cottons stay away from synthetics. Anything visibly soiled is pre-treated. Nothing is washed in one indiscriminate load to save time. Wash and fold comes back folded and bagged so it can go into a drawer. Pieces that crease come back on hangers. A preference you state once stays on the ticket.

Cotton dress shirts should be laundered in water, then pressed on a shirt unit and returned on hangers. Starch is light, medium, heavy, or none. Silk and wool shirts go through solvent. That split is on the dry cleaning versus wash and fold article.

How the price works

The store care label prices wash and fold by the pound. Location pages also describe the service as wash-dry-and-fold by the bag. FabriCare quotes before any work starts and does not publish a rate card for the bag. Delivery customers pay the same prices as people who walk in. Pickup adds no fee, no fuel surcharge, no minimum order, and no contract.

Call the store, describe what you have, and get the figure before you commit. The pricing page works the same way. Thornblade is 864.877.7701, Augusta Road is 864.558.0311, and Woodruff Road is 864.234.0036.

Whether the service is worth it is not a coupon comparison this site can make. The published reason to use it is time and sorting. You are paying for the labor of separating, washing, drying, folding, and bagging washable clothes, not for a stronger chemistry than your own machine. A wrong home wash on a garment that needed solvent is often not recoverable. A bag of t-shirts is not that risk. The worth is the hour you do not spend sorting whites from a gym kit.

How long it takes

Standard wash and fold turnaround is two to three business days, the same window as ordinary dry cleaning. That is the number to plan around if the bag includes towels, sheets, and everyday clothes.

Laundered dress shirts can move faster. Shirts in by 10:00 AM are ready by 5:00 PM the same day, for an $8.95 rush fee per order, at all three stores. Call before you come if you need that afternoon. A mixed bag of towels and jeans should be planned as a two-to-three-day job. Thornblade and Woodruff Road have drive-thru lanes. Augusta Road is walk-in.

How it rides the free delivery routes

Wash and fold uses the same free twice-weekly pickup as dry cleaning. You do not schedule a separate service. Put dry cleaning, laundered shirts, and wash-and-fold in one bag. The plant sorts and tags it from what is on the account. Leave the bag out by 9:00 AM on the route day, at the spot you chose when you signed up. You do not have to be home. Finished laundry comes back on the next run.

The routes run through Greenville, Greer, Simpsonville, Mauldin, Five Forks, and Taylors. There is no delivery fee and no contract. One phone call ends a route if you want off. The terms are on the pickup and delivery page. If your street is not obvious, call 864.877.7701 and ask whether it is already on a route.

You can also drop the bag at a counter. Thornblade in Greer, Augusta Road, and Woodruff Road all take wash and fold. The location pages describe that service as available at every store, alongside dry cleaning and the rest of the menu.

What should go to dry cleaning instead

Dry cleaning uses solvent, not water, for tailored or delicate garments. Suits, silk, wool, linings, and pleats can shrink or fade in water. Wool, silk, cashmere, rayon, and acetate tailoring are safer in solvent. Pleats, beading, and a lining are reasons to keep a piece out of the wash-and-fold bag.

Those pieces belong on the dry cleaning page. A cotton dress shirt should be laundered instead. If you cannot tell, bring it in before a home wash. Inspection is free, and a wrong home cycle is sometimes beyond recovery. Towels, sheets, jeans, t-shirts, and gym clothes go in the fold bag. The route will take both kinds of work in one bag, and the plant splits them.
